TEMPLE PRE-COLLEGE
INSTITUES & INTENSIVES

Temple Pre-College Summer Intensives and Institutes allow students to get a taste of undergraduate life while exploring potential college majors through a full-day, non-credit workshop in a particular topic. Students will have the chance to select and dive into a field their interested in, learn directly from professionals in that industry, gain essential skills for the transition to college and beyond, and develop friendships with high schools from around the world. 

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Location: Temple University, Philadelphia, PA 

  • Program Length: Summer Institutes and Intensives offer a one-week or a two-week option.

  • Dates: There are several Summer Institutes and Intensives offered throughout the summer:

    • One-week sessions are offered for non-residential students only from Monday, June 24 - Friday, June 28, 2024​

    • Two-week sessions are offered for non-residential OR residential students during the weeks of:

      • Monday, July 8 - Friday, July 19, 2024 (residential students move in on Sunday, July 7)​

      • Monday, July 22 - Friday, August 2, 2024 (residential students move in on Sunday, July 21) 

  • Participant Mix: Mix of students from all over Philadelphia and the country. You may or may not have another Summer Searcher in your chosen workshops. 

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

  • Attend one full-day non-credit workshop with an immersive curriculum in one academic field.  

  • Engage in interactive, project-based learning.

YOU'LL GET FROM THIS EXPERIENCE...

  • Deeply dive into a topic you’re interested in though real-world learning.  

  • Make new friends and build community with other students from across Philadelphia, the country, and the world.  

  • A glimpse into what college could be like.  

  • Earn a letter of recommendation and/or a certificate of achievement based on assessments and student engagement. 

THIS EXPERIENCE IS A GOOD FIT FOR STUDENTS WHO...

  • Have a high follow-through to complete the application, register for courses, buy course materials, and manage their time between classes and social activities 

  • Want to experience college in a supportive, friendly environment 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA 

  • Copy of high school transcript or report card 

  • An essay is required for the application. 

  • Students do not receive college credit for this program
