TEMPLE PRE-COLLEGE WORKSHOPS

With a focus on academic exploration and college and career readiness, Temple Pre-College Workshops offer a unique opportunity for students to prepare for their future while enjoying an immersive college campus experience. During this two-week experience, students will choose from 25+ workshops and get a taste of undergraduate college life. Students can opt to live on campus in dorms or commute daily to campus. 

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Location: Temple University in Philadelphia, PA 

  • Program Length: 2 weeks 

  • Dates: Temple Pre-College Workshops offers two (2) two-week sessions. Summer Searchers would attend one of the following sessions:  

    • Monday, July 8 – Friday, July 19, 2024 (residential students move in on Sunday, July 7)  

    • Monday, July 22 – Friday, August 2, 2024 (residential students move in on Sunday, July 21) 

  • Participant Mix: Mix of students from all over Philadelphia and the country. You may or may not have another Summer Searcher in your chosen workshops. 

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

  • Attend two non-credit workshops of your choice, depending on the session you attend. Topics include business, education, health and medicine, writing, the arts, politics and social justice, leadership, pre-law, and more.  

  • Participate in college and career prep workshops, activities, and events put on by the program 

  • Engage in interactive, project-based learning 

YOU'LL GET FROM THIS EXPERIENCE...

  • Delve into topics you’re interested in, or discover new interests, though project-based, real-world learning.  

  • Make new friends and build community with other students from across Philadelphia, the country, and the world.  

  • A glimpse into what college could be like.  

  • Earn a letter of recommendation and/or a certificate of achievement based on assessments and student engagement. 

THIS EXPERIENCE IS A GOOD FIT FOR STUDENTS WHO...

  • Have a high follow-through to complete the application, register for courses, buy course materials, and manage their time between classes and social activities 

  • Are interested in living on a college campus 

  • Want to experience college in a supportive, friendly environment 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA 

  • Copy of high school transcript or report card 

  • An essay is required for the application. 

  • Students do not receive college credit for this program
